Central and state schemes for manufacturing are real money. But they come with deadlines, formats and conditions, and many units find out too late.

Why it happens

• Nobody mapped the schemes at the start, so the project was not structured to qualify.
• Some incentives must be applied for before the investment is made, or before a cut-off date, and that window has passed.
• Claims need documents the plant never kept in the required form: invoices, employment records, utility bills, certificates.
• The claim is filed once, queried, and then left unanswered.

What to do instead

• Prepare an incentive map at the DPR stage: which schemes apply, what they are worth and what they require.
• Build the conditions into the project plan and the investment timeline.
• Keep a claims calendar and a document checklist from day one.
• Follow every application through official channels until it is settled.
